Muhammad Bilal Tahir
I architect distributed systems that carry AI from research into production — from firmware over-the-air pipelines running millions of IoT transactions to agentic LLM workflows automating enterprise reporting.
Enterprise systems, shipped for a decade
Principal-level engineer with 10+ years architecting and delivering distributed systems in C#, ASP.NET Core, and .NET across fintech, IoT, telecom, and healthcare. Recent focus is on production AI: agentic workflows on Azure AI Foundry, and RAG pipelines built on Qdrant for semantic search and enterprise Q&A. Comfortable taking a system from proof-of-concept to production, and from requirements gathering through to mentoring the engineers who maintain it.
Where the systems were built
- Architected agentic AI workflows on Azure AI Foundry for enterprise SQL automation and natural-language reporting over structured business data.
- Built RAG pipelines on Qdrant — embedding strategy, retrieval, and LLM integration for production semantic search and Q&A.
- Delivered scalable ASP.NET Core microservices, containerized via Docker/Kubernetes, shipped through automated CI/CD.
- Mentored junior engineers and set team practices for AI integration and performance.
- Led the full migration of a monolithic FOTA platform to microservices, improving deployment frequency and reliability.
- Implemented secure device-to-server communication over LWM2M, handling millions of IoT transactions on AWS.
- Optimized PostgreSQL for high-throughput, high-availability production workloads at scale.
- Built enterprise web applications and REST integrations in C#, ASP.NET, and SQL Server for large-scale telecom operations.
- Delivered an end-to-end HR Recruitment Portal with OAuth 2.0 / two-factor authentication, from requirements to production.
- Built a multi-warehouse Inventory Management System with barcode scanning and audit reporting.
- Built MIS platforms for student enrollment, exam scheduling, and role-based access in ASP.NET, C#, and SQL Server.
- Developed WinForms desktop applications for academic outcome tracking and RDLC reporting.
Systems in production
Enterprise AI Agent Platform
Challenge — GL reconciliation and ad-hoc reporting required an engineer in the loop for every new question stakeholders had, slowing decisions down.
Approach — Architected an agentic workflow on Azure AI Foundry so stakeholders can ask questions in plain language; the agent plans and executes the query safely, automates GL parsing and matching, and cites its sources. Paired it with a Qdrant-backed retrieval layer for grounded, contextual answers, plus dashboards for chat and history tracking.
Impact — Cut reporting and reconciliation turnaround by 60–70%, taking a multi-day manual process down to a few hours; adopted by multiple analyst and finance teams across the organization for day-to-day reporting.
NowApp — Fintech Platform
Challenge — The client needed to give account holders a real-time, unified view of their finances across multiple banks, without building banking infrastructure themselves.
Approach — Integrated the Plaid API to aggregate live financial data from partner banks, built token-based authentication and encryption for secure data handling, and shipped a dynamic Angular front-end backed by Identity Server for authorization.
Impact — Connects accounts across major US banks via Plaid for real-time identity and account verification, on a compliance-first, SOC 2-ready architecture with encryption at rest and in transit.
FOTA IoT System
Challenge — A monolithic firmware-update system couldn't scale with a growing device fleet, risking slow, unreliable rollouts of critical updates.
Approach — Led the migration from a monolithic to a microservices architecture, integrated LWM2M for lightweight device-to-server communication, and optimized PostgreSQL to handle high-volume transactional load under strict OTA security compliance.
Impact — Manages OTA updates across a fleet of thousands of connected IoT devices, with a 99%+ update success rate driven by staged rollouts and automated rollback — supporting millions of device transactions in production.
